The Day Before

I just got off the phone with the bariatric nurse from the hospital.  We had a long talk and she helped me get around some of the emotions I'm going through right now.  She's had the same surgery and is my age so she understands what I'm going through.  It was comforting.

The big cry I had right after was a comfort, too.  It feels like grief.  I'm sure there's a whole bunch of emotions balled up in those tears, but they're dried up and gone now.
My husband is supportive and very kind and I've named him Captain of my Team.

I received so many great hugs from my pals at work.  I am going to hang on to them until I get back.  Thank you so much for your love and support.

Today, I can only have clear fluids and a dose of milk of magnesia at 4pm today.  I tested out the chicken soup mix from the big pile of protein powders, teas and broth I purchased.  It was really good and that was a happy surprise.  I'm going to be living off that for the next couple of weeks.
I have picked up all my post-op prescription medications and over-the-counter meds as well.  I only have a couple of supplements to buy:  chew-able vitamins, sub-lingual B12 and chew-able calcium citrate.

I guess I'm all set....

When I took off my uniform yesterday I thought: "Should I throw it away?"
