I just got back from seeing my surgeon, Dr. Jossart, for my 3-week post-op check.
I am right on target for weight loss and should start to lose 5lbs/week. I am medically/surgically cleared for Planet Fitness and that will rev up the weight loss a bit, too.
I wore the same outfit I wore the day I went in for surgery. I can see a change in the way the blouse fits today. I'm not to the point of giving away clothing that no longer fits; it's more like seeing my wardrobe fit better or properly now. I do look forward to a big shopping day within the year as I become forced to let go of my old clothing. Maybe I'll acquire a new sense of style too.
I believe all of the changes are going to happen within a year, other than plastic surgery. That will wait a little longer.
I remember all those times I thought to myself: "If I had stuck with ________ (insert name of diet or weight loss program) for a year, I could be ____ lbs. lighter.
This time, I know there is going to be a significant weight loss within a year. I really have something to look forward to seeing and becoming.
Finding the right combination of food that doesn't cause me great discomfort is still a challenge. I did throw up for the first time today. I think I ate the canteloupe and cottage cheese too fast.
I had the same thing yesterday (with honey-sweetened yogurt) and no problem.
Tonight, for dinner I ate 5 small sauteed scallops. Everything felt fine. Later, I'll have a sugar-free Popsicle.
My refrigerator is full of covered bowls and plates, waiting for another chance as a meal. I never was a big fan of left-overs, but that has changed since I can't toss what I can't eat; that's most of a meal. It's good later with some fixes or additions.
I'm getting more clever with my food preparations now. I use different spices that have been sitting in my spice cabinet, unused and untried.
For instance, tomorrow for the left-over scallops, I may make a small scallop patty for lunch with Old Bay Seasoning and panko bread crumbs. Maybe I'll add a little red pepper for heat and a sauce with plain yogurt and Italian or Sonoran seasoning.
I have to remember to EAT SLOWLY AND STOP WHEN I KNOW I'M FULL!!!
I need to continue to remind myself as I sit down to eat something (as opposed to drinking) to slow down or suffer the ills of eating too fast. It is so uncomfortable as the food tries to work its way through my small stomach pouch. It takes a few minutes before everything settles down.
It's a form of aversion therapy, I think.
