Bold Moves

I will first talk about the Bold Move I made yesterday afternoon that left me exhausted, in pain and in bed.

Last Saturday I went out to dinner with my pal and ate prime rib, all of my baked potato, with all the fixin's, sauteed spinach, a dirty vodka martini, a glass of wine and creme brulee for dessert. That was my last real meal.
The night before my surgery (Sunday)I had to have 2 tablespoons of milk of magnesia at 4:00 p.m. This was to "prep" my bowel for the surgery.

Stick with me, here.

Day of surgery and nothing, nothing, nothing is happening regarding aforementioned bowel prep...you know what I mean.

Fast forward to yesterday............

After one SOLID week, I delivered the goods but not without a lot of screaming, crying, suppositories and prayer. I thought I would have to go to the emergency room! The whole dreadful ordeal left me weak, sweaty and exhausted. I went right to bed after my shower.

I was 2.5lbs. lighter this morning.

Today, my Bold Move was to actually saddle up the Pugs and take them and myself for a walk around the little park across the street and then a cruise around the clubhouse...TWICE!
They just love it, it's good for me and my strength is improving everyday.

One more week of liquid protein drinks and sugar free Popsicles, the only thing I put in my mouth that has any crunch to it!

I'm getting used to the idea that I can't eat like I used to anymore.  I don't really have a choice, anyway.  I've gone so far as to watch some cooking shows and when I really think about eating what they are showing, it all seems like too much.
I do feel like I'm hungry, but I have to take care of my new internal anatomy and let all the staple/suture sites heal before I let in anything remotely resembling a real meal inside.

Just a couple more weeks.....
